Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
